The product launch video playbook for 2026

By Solo, Founder & Creative Director at Kickflix · July 2026 · 7 min read

A product launch gets one moment of maximum attention, and most brands spend it on a video that describes the product instead of one that makes people feel something. Having produced launch films for fintech, robotics and beauty brands at Kickflix, here is the playbook we run.

Rule one: the launch film is not a demo

Feature walkthroughs belong on the docs page. The launch film has one job: make the product feel inevitable. When we built the XMAQUINA product launch trailer, the film sold the feeling of machines coming alive, not a spec sheet. The specs converted later, after the film earned the click.

The structure that works in feeds

  1. Seconds 0 to 2, the hook: the single most arresting image you have. Platforms decide distribution on completion of these seconds. Design the film backwards from this frame.
  2. Seconds 2 to 10, the world: establish stakes and atmosphere. This is where cinematic craft pays, because premium look equals premium product in the viewer’s mind.
  3. Seconds 10 to 25, the reveal: the product enters as the answer to the tension you built.
  4. Final seconds, the handle: name, one line, one action. Not four logos and a legal wall.

Plan the rollout before the film

One hero film is the start, not the deliverable. The launch package that performs: a 60 second hero, a 30 cut, three to five vertical hooks with different opening frames for testing, stills for press, and a teaser that runs 5 to 7 days before launch. Different hooks matter because you cannot know which opening image the algorithm rewards until it is live. This is exactly why Kickflix delivers campaigns with rollout built in rather than a single file.

Timing

Teaser one week out. Hero film on launch morning in the product’s home timezone. Cutdowns staggered over the following two weeks so the launch does not die on day two. Report on what the platforms rewarded, then feed the next film. Strategy, script, production, rollout, reporting: one engine.

What it costs and how fast

Traditional launch films need 2 to 4 months of lead time, which is longer than many startups’ entire launch runway. An AI-produced launch package at cinematic quality takes about two weeks at Kickflix, which means you can decide to launch loud a month out and still make it. See the full cost breakdown here.

Make your brand impossible to ignore.

Kickflix builds cinematic 4K films and campaigns engineered for the algorithm, delivered in two weeks. Tell us what you are launching.

Frequently asked questions

How long should a product launch video be?
A 45 to 75 second hero film, supported by 15 to 30 second cutdowns and several vertical hooks. The hero builds the world, the cutdowns carry the reach.
When should I start producing my launch video?
With AI production, two to three weeks before launch is enough for a full cinematic package. Traditional production needs two to four months.
What makes a launch video perform on social platforms?
The first two seconds. Platforms distribute based on early completion, so the opening image has to arrest the scroll before the product is even named.
